MelzWhimzy

My name is Mel. I'm an ex-mormon, agnostic/atheist, humanist, feminist, and, most importantly, a parent of 2 wonderful teens.

I like Tim Minchin, R.E.M., Harry Potter, Hunger Games, Doctor Who, Star Trek:TNG, cooking, knitting, progressive politics, and other boring stuff. I'm also dealing with chronic depression and trying to make this a recovery blog, occasional 'I feel like shit' posts may occur.

This blog is for posting (anonymously) whatever I feel like without alienating or offending my real life family, friends, and acquaintances on facebook.

Denying or suppressing a child’s right to choose their own gender expression/self expression (through clothing choices, body language, play, verbally, etc.) is AN ACT OF VIOLENCE.
Denigrating those who don’t adhere to traditional gender expectations is AN ACT OF VIOLENCE (and one your children are definitely paying attention to).
Telling a child or teen that their only option is to be straight is, you guessed it, AN ACT OF VIOLENCE.
Shaming, putting down, or otherwise speaking against LGBTQ+ people is VIOLENCE.
The people around you are listening. Your children are listening. And unless you strive to be an ally, you ARE contributing to depression and suicide among LGBTQ+ people, especially youth, and to the abuse, violence, and marginalization they experience from society at large.
You have the power, with your words and actions, to help stop the violence.

    Sincerely,
Idzie, your queer/bisexual blogger and moderator who wants a better world for us all.

One difference between the wealthy and the poor is the ability to try and fail. A poor person cannot afford to fail. A wealthy person can try over and over again until they find success.

And how do you think those wealthy people got there?

Because ONE Ancestor beat the percentages before they were so heavily loaded by the few winners.  Then their descendants have access to the best education and connection to best jobs, and retained the fortune and thus was able to build upon a solid foundation.
